Selector extraordinaire Truly Madly is well known for his wide-ranging and fathom deep dive DJ sets that have seen his popularity explode since starting out in the ’90s. It was only a matter of time before the British artist would launch a label of his own and that notion will finally bear fruit in September with the launch of Mindhelmet.
Forging MindHelmet will be a 4-track various artist EP from some of Truly’s nearest and dearest artist pals and the quality will not disappoint. A1 leads off with Gene on Earth’s upfront ‘Storsley’ that bumps along nicely before Gene’s trademark cosmic interludes joins in. A2 is provided by Kepler and the cosmic theme continues with ‘Acid Communications’ and as the track title suggests there is plenty of 303 wiggles cropping up amongst the finely tuned drums and bounding basslines. Flipping over to B1 and Jhobei’s ‘Grande Sultry’ keeps up the pressure with arpeggiated synths, some neat scratching samples and some old-school house vibes propel the groove onwards. Rounding out the release is Noiro’s deep synth weapon ‘11 Reasons To’. As you might expect from a Truly Madly project the quality of the music that will be coming out on Mindhelmet is nothing but the best and this first outing is a great place to start.
Mindhelmet 01 is now on pre-order at subwax bcn.
