Temporary community space The Cause situated in Down Lane Studios has seen its fair share of action since opening its door in March of last year. With the multi-area complex remaining open for only around 18 months that time scale has sadly nearly come to an end. In that time, the various corners of The Cause have welcomed esteemed party crews such as Syzygy, Still Life, Sentaku and Art of Dark to name just a few that have shaken the walls. Although The Cause in its current state may be about to come to an end there looks like there will be a new lease of life in a new venue and it seems to have come from the unlikeliest of sources and we have been privy to the first tentative images from the exciting new space.
The new potential home of The Cause has been unearthed by a regular attendee to the venue, Romanian factory worker Nikolai rooted out the new potential venue as a result of working across the road in a chocolate factory. Stuart Glen co-founder of The Cause had this to say on the potential new site, “Since we opened, we were always hunting for our next site. For a variety of reasons, quite simply none of them have been perfect. However, we knew when we stepped inside here, that we could re-create the magic we’re known for IF we can win over the powers that be.”
With the venue’s launch party being delayed due to issues they encountered with “the powers that be” Stuart was candid on the matter, “We have a lot of battles, and quite simply, if we don’t win these, our dreams here will never evolve. As such we’ve seized the opportunity and are extending our last dance in our current space into the first dance of what may or may not be our new home. This will be a triple celebration for the club as we also welcome a new decade with a monstrously big NYE show.”
That’s right, The Cause will be running a massive double venue NYE event where both the original venue as well as the potential new venue will both be used to see in 2020. There will be shuttles running between the 2 venues on the night/morning but seeing as they are minutes away from each other the traveling will be minimal. In true The Cause style the line-up will remain a tightly guarded secret and will not be announced until the night of the event, but take it from us that you will not be disappointed as the likes of Saoirse, Call Super, Daniel Avery, Cinthie, Jane Fitz, Voigtmann and Rossko have all played unannounced or last-minute sets in the last 12 months. So, what better way to see out 2019 and the old venue and welcome in 2020 and the potential new home of The Cause, we say potentially as in this game nothing is final until the deal is signed, sealed and delivered. Either way, it is going to be one hell of an NYE party at The Cause as they close out an important chapter by bringing down the walls.
