Despite the lack of government help and total uncertainty that surrounds our beloved industry, we refuse to waste any time here discussing the bad side of the current situation. Instead, we are here to spread the news of the return of events to London and over the next few weeks, there is plenty to get excited about. Sure, they will all be seated and there will be enhanced safety measures in place but we will be able to catch some of our favourite local artists and some international guests that have been flown in for the occasion.
Starting in earnest on Saturday, October 9th is one of London’s most favoured pubs The Lion & Lamb. This audiophile favourite watering hole has a great program of events lined up this month (and following months) and bringing the bomb beats will be NorthSouth co-founder Harry McCanna. His raucous sets border a sweet spot fusion of underground house, techno, garage and indeed anything bassy that makes you shake in your seat.
The next day (and night) The Lion & Lamb will be again shelled with an outrageous selection of music, this time behind the decks is one of London’s favourite sons Voigtmann. The Subsequent boss has been keeping himself extremely busy over the down months and is ready to return to the fray with a bag jam-packed full of the hottest tracks. Der V Man will be undertaking a day and night long set that will be split into 2 sections, the daypart is already sold out but if you are quick you might be able to bag a table for the night session.
Joining in on the weekend’s fun will DON where they will be celebrating their 4th birthday at The Brixton Courtyard. Helping them blow out the candles on their socially distanced cake will be Fuse mainstay Rich NxT. The Source co-boss will also be joined by DON regulars UN.CO, Jake Adams, and Harrison Tucker.
Elsewhere this same day and Jane Fitz will be bringing one of her fabled extended sets to one of London’s tidiest terraces for an all-day-long journey at Night Tales. Her selections bristle with the sheer diggery that few can match and the surroundings will be a great pairing to her unrivalled picks. If you didn’t manage to get your hands on a ticket the party doesn’t stop there as Jane will be back the following day with her long-term partner Jade Seatle for a daylight adventure on the Night Tale terrace.
The Cause will be making the most of this weekend by hosting not one but two top parties. Firstly, they welcome the Butter Side Up duo of Hamish and Toby to their new fully covered and heated terrace spot. They will be combining with the Mother Earth team for a typically wicked evening of music.
Squeezing in one last party this weekend The Cause will be welcoming the Syzygy team. Having been responsible for some of the biggest minimal get-togethers pre-lockdown they will be rolling out a full complement of residents, close friends and visiting artists in Isam Mellagui, Laumee, Manalou, Olivian Nour, Robson, Toto Vitali and Yuda.
The following weekend at The Cause is dedicated to one of the venue’s true heroes. Having stepped in as a surprise guest during the Cause’s first birthday Gerd Janson will be working the terrace on both Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th (hosted by Crossbreed). So, there will be two chances to catch him action and experience all the bloody, sweat and tears that has poured into making The Cause what it is.
The Lion & Lamb will again be throwing its doors open on Saturday, October 17th to welcome the very best selectors in the business and that will be more than taken care of by Picnic and their day and night party with Truly Madly. Having recently thrown one hell of a party in a secluded wood on the outskirts of town Picnic could not have chosen a better artist for their first town-based foray than the Mindhelmet boss.
A true meeting of two bad man selectors will take place at The Brixton Courtyard and organized by The Idea when Voigtmann goes b2b with Dungeon Meat’s Tristan da Cunha. Having garnered skills and experience only found playing to the most discerning dancefloors around the world this will be a treat for the ears, but remember – no dancing.
A firm favourite from the pre-COVID times and a true product of the city is Ogenblik. Their finely curated events and expert residents Matteo Manzini and Timoti have made sure that their parties are not to be missed. For their socially distanced edition at Star Lane Pizza Bar the 2 residents will be playing b2b all day and night long and as we intimated previously this is not to be missed just make sure and send a message to their Instagram page for tickets.
Sunday, October 18th and Zero Logistics will be making a return to day time partying but with a slight deviation from previous outings that they have been responsible for. Heading up the bill will be tINI and she will be closely followed by Benson Herbert and Harry McCanna, who is challenging Voigtmann for the busiest DJ in London. The party will take place at Sunday session ground zero 93 Feet East.
With the last few weeks taking their toll on the bums in seats a week’s rest was in order to prepare for historically one of the weekends of the year – Halloween. In order to make the most of a somewhat subdued slant on the usual craziness Friday, October 30th will see two amazing parties will firstly see Alien Communications bring on board a fine selection of local heroes and guests. Joining AC at The Cause will be DMX Krew, Unai Trotti and EYA Records’ Jos.
The second Halloween shindig of the day will come from long-time London heads Half Baked. Their special parties are never to be missed and for their 2020 edition they will be taking over Studio 9294 for a socially distanced event that will include sets from Subb-An, Voigtmann, Greg Brockman and ADMNTi.
Finishing off the month where we started it at The Lion and Lamb will be London heroes PleasureClub. This will be an almighty day-long party with founder Bobby. and Mariiin in control of the daylight hours and then they will be joined by Francesca and N-Gynn for the evening time session. Just because there are restrictions in place there is no reason that we can’t have fun and loud music. Just remember and protect yourself as much as you possibly can and also….enjoy yourself.
