SlapFunk turns seven years old with a party at Amsterdam’s Shelter

Over the last few years Dutch house label SlapFunk Records has carved out a nice bit of real estate in the European house and minimal scene and this came at a time where tech house very much ruled the roost in Holland. There seems to have been a bit of a seismic shift with regards to house music in Holland, Utrecht and Amsterdam in particular and it could be said that this is thanks in part to a SlapFunk Records and their recent parties at BRET in Amsterdam.

The collective which is comprised of Samuel Deep, Julian Alexander and Nelson Yogh Niemel have for the past 7 years been putting out Grade A house bombs and have cemented their place in the European scene by sticking to a “quality over quantity” ethos. This is something that has helped to align them with their more minimal brothers VBX as they also live by the same mantra.  To celebrate turning the ripe old age of 7 the SlapFunk crew will be pitching up at Amsterdam hotspot Shelter on Saturday, March 23rd and will have Francesco Del Garda, Ingi Visions (the combined force of Julian Alexander and Samuel Deep) and Evan Baggs in tow to help bring the noise. Here is to another 7 years.

As well as celebrating their birthday at Shelter, SlapFunk will also be releasing a 2 part EP – Raw Joints #6.1 and #6.2. With dancefloor detonating bombs from Ferro, JAMM, SE62, William Caycedo, Malin Genie, Lopaski, Pascal Benjamin and of course Ingi Visions there is no better way to re/introduce yourself to the SlapFunk sound.
