Dutch tastemakers SlapFunk head to London for a six-hour jam, inviting several local artists for the ride.
Their take on stripped-back, raw house music has carved a distinctive identity to the scene and influenced multiple generations of producers and music enthusiasts. The reputation rings similarly for their loose parties at the infamous BRET venue, regularly inviting local artists and growing their extended crew.
This Friday, March 1st, the label heads to London’s Archives venue for an eight-hour session. The space is based within a transformed 1960’s industrial warehouse, idyllic for SlapFunk’s dusty, analogue aesthetic, running from 10pm through to 6am.
Utrecht’s Carista joins co-founder Samuel Deep for a back-to-back set, alongside the latest resident DouDou MD. Bringing the UK flavours is the similarly influential trio behind the Phone Traxx project; Alec Falconer, Harry Wills and Rob Amboule. Each artist has an esteemed catalogue of releases spread across various projects like Ba Dum Tish, Nimble and several random aliases floating in the depths of Discogs.
SlapFunk explicitly voices that music is the focus of their parties, priding themselves on bringing the best at every presentation. The collective celebrated its 10th birthday last year and is still going strong with a rank of fresh faces surfacing amongst the family.
You can expect a chunky sound system to showcase this unique collab between Amsterdam and London. The crossover in both cities’ sounds is a subtle combination that suits the London vibe to a tee.
