There are few clubs over the years that have become synonymous with clubbing in Amsterdam than Shelter. Situated down a hatch the leads way down underneath The A’dam Tower the underground mecca for electronic music of all descriptions finds a home here. Throughout the year Shelter is consistently a barometer for quality music but during Amsterdam Dance Event something that little bit extra special is required.
Launching into the week down the hatch on Wednesday, October 19th Enzo Siragusa will be treating the early attendees of ADE to an extended set in line with his E:Dimension concept. It is a simple one in that Fuse boss Enzo is given an extended time behind the decks to truly tell a story worthy of his time in the game. For this ADE special he will be handing warmup slot to none other than Ion Ludwig, and with Ion being a headliner in his own right you can be sure this will be the perfect way to kick off Shelter’s ADE plans.
With the club running two sessions a day for much of ADE the day session on Thursday, October 20th will play host to Shelter by Day and resident Juan Sanchez will be joined by a cast of techno stars. His curation will include sets from Antigone, Ben Sims, Black Lotus, and Delano Legito. The night time session belongs to HE.SHE.THEY and they will be bringing in DJ Bone, Dr. Rubinstein, Juliana Huxtable, LSDXOXO, Sandrien and Wax Wings.
Moving on to Friday, October 21st and Archie Hamilton will be bringing his to the subterranean nightspot. Kicking off mid afternoon he will has curated a tidy array of heavy hitters from around the groovey minimal house spectrum. Frequency has already staked its claim at three editions and for the occasion of ADE Archie has on the lineup his old pal and badman selector Rossko as well as a Dutch contingent of Julian Anthony, Luuk van Dijk, and Maqossa.
One of the draws of the week has to be SlapFunk’s must attend ADE party at Shelter. Rocking from start to finish and no middle ground for warmup it is straight to the bump from the off. Seeing as this is such a special edition of SlapFunk at Shelter it seemed only right that the bookings should reflect this and they don’t get much more special than Dungeon Funk. Dungeon Meat and their upbeat bomb sets has always been a close family member of the SlapFunk family so joining forces with residents Ingi Visions (Julian Alexander and Samuel Deep) was the next logical step. The result is a four-way killer setup as Dungeon Funk and the consequences are promising to be utterly devastating. Label mate Locklead will play a live set to set the tone nicely.
Taking another techno turn for an extended day time session on Saturday, October 22nd and Parrhesia faces off against Rawmantique with Beatrice (DE), NAAZ, RAEZA, and Rakans in tow. The night time session will come courtesy of Cuttin’ Headz sub label Boogeyman and front by Jesse Calosso there will also be sets from AJ Christou, Boris Werner, Fleur Shore, Jesse Maas, and there is also a special guest yet to be announced for this party.
Getting into the business end of Shelter’s ADE program on Sunday, October 23rd and more techno is on the horizon and certified techno legend Dubfire will be curating an almighty party with all manner of heavy hitting stars to pummel the dancefloor with. Dutch artist Steve Rachmad will be joining Dubfire along with Bart Skills, Indira Paganotto, Klaudia Gawlas and none other than LB Dub Corp aka Luke Slater. This early start will mean a slightly earlier finish in preparation for perhaps one of Shelters finest parties of the campaign.
A regular at Shelter, VBX is one of the leading lights in the European minimal sphere and their upcoming night session on Sunday, October 23rd will close out their ADE account in style. Mixing electro, minimal, house and techno, the VBX crew know how to program a party alright. Heading up the party is VBX regular Francesco Del Garda and joining him will be VBX resident Ferro as well as Christian AB, Bruno Schmidt, and Alexia Glensy. There you have a perfectly curated week worthy of ADE and the quality that the occasion demands, the only problem is deciding which party to hit.
