Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath to reunite for The Mission in Bucharest

There are few artists that have had the same impact on techno and the wider electronic music sphere as Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath. Their fabled back-to-back sets and of course their collective discographies have ensured their demi-god status. Having not performed on the same stage for many years, it is Sven’s Cocoon party that solidified their place atop our scene. Being one of the original Cocoon stars, Richie and Sven, alongside Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos were responsible for bringing minimal techno to Ibiza and now they are back together where they will perform for The Mission will present another epic warehouse party at Laminor Arena on Saturday, March 22nd.

Sven and his Cocoon label have only recently celebrated their 25th anniversary and in turn, he has embarked on a quite astonishing world tour, as part of that he will be appearing at Bucharest’s Laminor Arena. His old friend is also just as active as ever and as well as an ever-expanding tour schedule of his own Richie is in the process of breathing new life into his Plastikman alias. The mythical alter ego of Hawtin has never really been away as Ritchie continues to drip-feed parts from the history books of his 30-year-old futurist project.

With the minimal techno old guard acting as main guests for the night, who better to support such an auspicious event than the next generation of stars. First up is a name very well known to you all and that is RPR Soundsystem member Rhadoo and his sets are a constant source of inspiration. Joining him is another of Romania’s favourite son’s Sublee and with him just returning from his first US tour, this will be the perfect homecoming gig. Also on the bill is Victoria and her future is looking extremely bright with a clutch of well-received EPs.

The lineup ensures that the music and vibe will be second to none, The Mission aim a bit higher than most promoters. For a start, we need to discuss the venue. Bucharest’s behemoth Laminor Arena is an imposing figure even when completely empty, but once The Mission has put the finishing touches on it that empty space will be filled with enough sound and light to power the Deathstar.
