Leeds’ Distrikt Bar gear up for a huge August bank holiday weekend

Distrikt Bar has been a staple of the Leeds underground for over 10 years. Every week welcomes many of electronic music’s biggest and brightest artists to their intimate space, and it’s always free entry.

The list of frequent faces at the bar includes the likes of Binh and DJ Masda, as well as huge headliners such as Denis Sulta and even Moodymann. It’s a unique formula they’ve had nailed down for years and this coming weekend sees a trio of big events to celebrate the August Bank Holiday.

The venue has recently had a full refurb with a new sound and light system, ready to welcome these esteemed selectors into the space. Proceedings kick off on Friday 25th with local promoters Label 37 strapping in for a showcase of their wide-spanning tastes.

London legend and NorthSouth Records boss Harry McCanna comes to Leeds with his bag of gems. The dedicated digger has been a force in the London underground for many years, recently gaining his well-deserved residency at Fabric and honing the art of warming up and closing after all kinds of artists.

Joining him is the enchanting duo ERIS for their Distrikt debut. Enrica Falqui and DEA are the minds behind the ERIS moniker, sharing a special synergy together behind the decks, the pair have been stunning dance floors across Europe with their powerful strain of house and techno. It’s sure to be an interesting combination next to Harry McCanna, plus support from the Label 37 residents Foye, Shields Luca, and Donakon.

Rolling into Friday, Distrikt welcomes the veteran London promoters Into The Woods.

Into The Woods have been the face of innovative line-ups for some time. The crew are just off the back of a series of events at London’s Village Underground where they invited the likes of Shonky, Alci and Ferro to the capital.

Heading up north, they bring the Romanian wizard Crihan for a session of hypnosis. Witnessing the veteran’s strain of stripped-back house music is sure to be a special affair in the cosy surroundings of Distrikt.

Joining him is fellow Romanian selector Vlad Arapasu for a complimentary duo of tasteful club music. The two are joined by Pauli’s exciting live set, weaving together his delicate productions in a classy, elegant format. Frequent faces of the party Lee and JJ Mowbray will play B2B, as well as support from Simone Ellis.

Lastly, Sunday welcomes a special collaboration between MASS and Seekers.


Following their recent debut record distribution by Small Black Dots, honcho Alex Picone comes to Leeds with close affiliate and legend of the game Desyn. Both crews will be in effect from 2pm till 2am, taking over the terrace before heading into the basement for a night session.

Local Leeds hero Scott Featherstone aka Triform is also on the bill, bringing his infectious live set that has been stunning the likes of Hoppetosse and CDV for a while now. Scott has been in the game since the early 90s and it is sure to be a memorable set on his home turf. Longtime MASS residents Cosm & Nikol will also provide support through the day/night showcase.
