Art of Dark step it up for their first event of 2023

The festive period is usually pretty full on for most people but Art of Dark lay claim to an even more hectic schedule over the Christmas / NYD period. As well as their own personal commitments AOD somehow managed to pull off their annual Boxing Day two prong attack. First at FOLD and then at Starlane Pizza Bar they featured sets from Binh, Eversines (live), Brasi, VASS. This was then closely followed up on NYD with their regular pair up with Half Baked at Number 90 / Studio 9294 which included a strong cast of top selectors which saw sets from Colin Chiddle, DMC, Dr Banana, Melody, Miki, Northsouth, Raphael Carrau, Robin Ordell, Ron Obvious, and Unai Trotti.

With silly season done and dusted Art of Dark are currently shaping up for an outrageously silly event of a completely different nature. In the ethos of new year, new me the Art of Dark crew will be transplanting their acid soaked brand of electro, house and techno to one of East London’s newest warehouse venues – 60 Dock Street. Featuring just a handful of events at this brutalist warehouse space since last summer, the space is designed to welcome think big promoters and the high ceilings and concrete as far as the eye can see what better way to start 2023.

Obviously, for such a huge occasion on Saturday, February 25th a big line-up is required and who else to lead the charge than Francesca Del Garda. FDG has been instrumental in helping to push the AOD sound far and wide and in the process, has become a part of the furniture. Regardless of how well the team and their crowd knows this artist it is always a big deal to have Francesca back in the booth. He will not be flying solo, no not in the slightest. FDG will be back up by more AOD usual suspects and first up is the super flexible, but always bang on Matthias. His December run in was something quite spectacular – the ill-fated FUSE club in Brussels, Outcast in Turin and then NYE / NYD in Amsterdam with the extended family of LeMaia, Toi Toi and Shelter.

Another returning favourite is Uruguayan OMAR and we all know what he is capable of.  Another artist with an incredible range of sounds in his tool box but regulars of AOD already know this. They will also be fully aware that he is most at home when he is given free rein to let the bombs fly and they come in all shapes and sizes. AOD head honcho Colin Chiddle is of course going to be smashing the champagne against this new endeavour and we are confident that this could herald a new chapter in the successes of the always fire event series. It would be redundant of me at this point to confirm there will be an afterparty, it’s kinda their thing. While there are limited details at this point, we can confirm that Carl H, So-Fi, Tommy Pickles and secret special guest will all be playing at the carry on at Starlane Pizza Bar. I guess you will just need to head along to 60 Dock Road to find out more. You won’t regret it.
