Japanese talent Riku Sugimoto is next to deliver the next edition of H24 Records. Having already brought releases from the likes of Omul, Vlad Bretan, dot13, Mimush and Kirik and in the short year and half they have covered an impressive amount of ground in that time.
For the focus of our review of H24EL001 we lift off with B2 ‘Winter Illuminations’ and the floaty swagger is the main compass of the track here. A bleepy motif repeats throughout the track and combines with a and offers a tidy contrast for the roomy Rhodes stabs and deep bassline.
This high-grade tech house continues on B1 ‘Mindblast’. This punchy slab of tech house is urgent from the beginning and the full kicks and phat bassline are a great contrast to the flute like floaty synth that builds throughout the duration of the track. A repeating vocal is a nice touch to the aesthetic of the tracks and a nicely distorted synth that almost reminds us of an electric guitar really elevates the vibe of the track.
Flipping back over to side A and A1 ‘Augmenting’ takes a slightly different approach but the EP has a cohesive thread running it and the beeps, punchy drums and light flute like synth round out another great addition to the EP. Completing the release is ‘Looming Shade’, a peak time breaks weapon that will surely be getting serious plays from some of the bigger names in our scene.
H24EL001 is already selling well on decks.de so make sure you don’t sleep on this one.
