The team behind auspicious imprint Telum have announced a third arm in their discography. Novum follows suit behind Aurum, expanding a family that houses some of the most sought after tracks on the market. And whilst most of these fall under the unknown artist that we all wish we knew, we can categorically confirm who’s behind NOVUM001. Step forward, Post Play.
Four originals from the Philly trio span both sides of the wax, Novum remaining exclusive to vinyl like its older siblings already at play. This makes the first full Post Play EP for some time, but those behind the moniker have been making music together since the naughties. Their latest is fresh in sound and moulded around decades of experience.
NOVUM001 signals the start of a new flavour from team Telum. ‘Regulator’ starts off the B side on a colourful debut that infuses groove fuelled house, with chugging rhythms and low slung basslines. The premiere makes the most energetic of the bunch.
Sharp claps patter over deep textures, light growls tinged with acid. A happy beat leads as high synth stabs dance an eager melody. Multiple levels of cheery feels build before breaks settle, allowing space to ramp up. A soundtrack made for the party, this has been tried and tested alongside its deeper counterparts on the wax. Early support comes from a host of the finest, the likes of Raresh, Praslea and tINI.
