Barac delivers a funked-out ethereal retelling of Funky Trip’s “Alpha” for Bohrium Records’ latest outing.
Bohrium Records hit out with release number four, this time around from Romanian rising star Funky Trip, with a superb remix from none other than Barac that spans the whole flipside. The series has so far seen some sweet tracks by the likes of Dorothy’s Dream, Macarie, Lukea and more, not to mention their Bohrium Records White Series, which works in tandem with the original series, seeing a string of smooth and euphoric underground tunes under the prolific, ever-mysterious Unknown Artist pseudonym.
The title track “Alpha” sets the tone as bells chime and swirl, entering a state of hypnosis, underpinned by tight basslines, shuffling drums and surreptitious vocal samples. Introspective vibes continue on the A-side with “Funky Trip – Dreams” as he paints further into the mind, with subtlety and intricacy, integrating a host of clever melodic and rhythmic decisions to create a deep and infectious dreamscape, a perfect lead-up to Barac’s interpretation of “Alpha” on the flip. Barac delivers his rendition in signature style with a 12-minute trip imbued with an effervescence that feels almost infinite as repetition works its mesmeric magic alongside wholehearted tones that float as the rhythm takes control.
Another quality release from the prolific, as Funky Trip’s release marks their 6th vinyl output since 2020 – can’t wait to hear this one rock it in some sweet spots.
