Another Pleasure Club regular returns for the latest EP on the outfit. Francesca was last seen on the label serving up the fifth release with The Inside Out EP. In similar succession, the London-based artist heads the next take over on number ten.
Man in charge Bobby.is steering a tight ship with releases coming in thick and fast. We most recently premiered PCLUB008 back in March and we never have to wait long for the next. The fabric resident is wasting little time supporting and celebrating the artists around him.
Francesca continues to impress with her Homology EP. Four tracks make up the EP on a limited edition 12” which is already available via the Pleasure Club Bandcamp page.
‘Thirdspace’ combines sharp electronic synth stabs with soft percussion and trickling melodies. A steady, stripped-back beat offers calm while the warm pleasantries of gliding keys make for easy listening. The subtle squelch of acid takes a simple form, mastered and manipulated gently into a focus that leans more towards ambient chill-out than anything else.
Francesca blends a range of flavours across the six-track spectrum of sound. From the dub-driven groove of ‘Liminoid’ to the pure ambience of ‘Rhizome’ and the stripped-back eeriness of ‘Doxa’ next to the deep, dark textures of ‘Warrior’. There’s warm-up material in here next to an exploration into the sound of electronica that moves away from the typical dancefloor beat. An interesting perspective and a sign of what more might be on the way on her forthcoming album and label Goodnight Cowboy.
