Tarde Loco drops debut EP on his sapling label Let’s Bud. “Planting the Seeds EP” does exactly that as it sees 4 originals from the budding producer. Hailing originally from Trinidad & Tobago, Tarde Loco makes an electric move to London – certainly making his mark from the off, with a residency at Zuku and a host of hotly-tipped DJs spinning his unreleased works after only a short while this side of the world!
Following suite, his debut EP kicks off with a right old storm in the form of “Concepts Of The Mind” which brings rambunctious funk, retrospective processing and sampling that brings a degree of rawness to this heater as it flips and funks. Any reader with keen ears who made it along to Dimensions festival will be sure to have heard this doing the damage already after Liquid Earth dropped it, reportedly more than once!
A2. “Chronic Upload” Hears a host of raw, electro-tinged elements combine over a robust backbone as Tarde Loco digs deep to imbue a sense of nurture, as harmonies tame the wild energy of the track and converts it into something quite beautiful – photosynthesis of sorts, if you will.
B1. “Baby’s first Houghton” brings a sense of no-nonsense, dancefloor action, synonymous with the infectious and timeless beats heard across the entirety of the festival over those few enchanted days along the Norfolk coast.
B2. “Undefined Feelings” rounds off the EP, despite the track name, it provides a synopsis of elements and styles heard across the 3 tunes prior. It brings that late morning/end of night kind of feel – despite that feeling being undefined it certainly does not hold back; I’d expect to hear this one closing out some tasty sets over the next few months.
A rather fertile first foray from Tarde Loco, very excited to hear the fruits of his labour in the future as he puts his green thumb to good use, cultivating and creating all sorts of sonic goodness. Let’s Bud will continue to develop and grow as it showcases sounds from across the electronic music spectrum.
With the official release date 25th of September I’m sure you’ll be hearing this a lot, whether you buy one or not.
