For the second edition Hypnodose Records two certified dons of the minimal world take center stage. Dialing in two heaters a piece, Silat Beksi and Mihai Pol share the spoils on HYPN002.
We take the release from the top with Mihai Pol taking A1 with “Walking In Chicago”. From the outset Pol is in full on bounce mode. His productions always seem to have that unmistakable swing and swagger as well as the unique sound textures that he has become so well known for. Another hallmark of a Mihai Pol weapon is his clever use of vocal sampling and drum programming. Minimal in nature but with huge impact on the dancefloor.
Silat Beksi appears on A2 for his first entry on this release with “Roundabout” and this is tailor made for the afters. Another master of the groove, the Ukrainian has one of the most expansive discographies in the game and this one dips into a few sub genres with ease. Garage percussion, wonky minimal, and vibe packed tech house all combine on this heater.
Flipping over and Silat stays on the dials with “Wannabe” and this takes the record on a darker route with robotic synths and mystic half light motif that interjects the gloom. Utilising his vocal sampling skills there is a subtle voice layer that lightens up the action when needed.
Rounding out the second release from Hypnodose Records is the return of Mihai Pol with “Deep Breath” and the bounce is back. Skipping hats and low slung snares keep the grooves low and sexy while the paddy synths revolve around the rhythms. Breathy vocals pepper the mix offering an ethereal feel and fitting closing to the EP.
