Premiere: A1 – Louie Fresco – Nothing Personal [MIKRO002]

Mikro Records returns for their second edition, and after the launch EP from Gathaspar that came with a remix from Audio Werner, a more electro leaning direction awaits. The “Splitter” EP comes complete with three originals and a more minimal collab with Raugroove.

First up on the release is A1 track “Nothing Personal” and from the beginning the intent of release is clear. From the outset the pressure is building via an arpeggiating bassline until the track settles into an electro styled groove. Soon enough there is a slight break in the action by way of a fluted synth pad that, while doesn’t stick around for long, does a great job in taking the heat out of the track.Next is title track “Splitter” and Louie Fresco finds a sweet spot between minimal, ravey synths, and all stitched together with the finely sampled vocal snips.

Flipping over to side B and “Golosa” effortlessly combines a rounded bassline with skippy robust beats. Tempering the insistent grooves is a dusty synth that punctuates the breakdown perfectly. Rounding out the release is the low slung “Une Autre Vision Du Monde” and what it lacks in upfront aesthetics it more than makes up in warped creativity.
