With their fifth edition FUTURA keeps up the head of steam created by boss LEON by introducing the new breed of star artists alongside rising producers and so far it is working an absolute dream. This time around Italian star Alessio Viggiano presents his ‘Flowerchild’ EP and as well as original cuts from himself there is also key remixes from Sakro and Youandewan.
Where Alessio’s original version of title track ‘Flowerchild’ takes us down a positively upbeat skipping groove packed with lush synths it is Youandewan’s remix that topped our list. Ewan is well known for his many shades of proper house and his rerub utilises the aforementioned synths sparingly and injects a rather naughty acidic bassline and quite a few left hand turns which really help to add some interesting twists and turns through the track. Spacey percussion and vocal snips all add up to produce some tidy rhythms that stand apart from the original. There was little doubt here that his remix wouldn’t turn heads and we are sure this will appeal to quite a nice cross section of DJs too.
Also on the remix tip of ‘Flowerchild’ is groove machine Sakro and he smoothes out the percussion and drums and dials up the dream factor on those stunning synths. The vocal sections have also been brought to the fore and the end result is a super smooth deep tech house bomb. Completing yet another fire release from LEON and his FUTURA imprint is the second of Alessio’s originals ‘LFO is the Key’. Leading on from the title track the second track is much more of a deep burner and compliments the rest of the EP very nicely indeed.
The ‘Flowerchild’ EP from Alessio Viggiano is now available via Beatport.
