Laidlaw, “Beeyou co-founder and FUSE regular”, but, what’s much more important, author of the best ever edit of “Macarena”, lands on the newest, seventh instalment of Gottwax. And we just couldn’t miss this very delicate and still banging release.
Our today’s premiere is the last one on the record, but I have a feeling that this one will be the most popular one. “That Was Well Quick” just has that vibe of the afterhours track, that brings you back to dancing after a few hours of small talks. The press release tells us about some “hypnotizing bassline groove” – I don’t know about that, but this track defo has something magical inside.
“Wait Till The End”, the opener and the longest track on this release (and also – my second favorite track here), after its short intro, takes us on a trip. With its atmospheric, delicate build-up, it transforms into some VERY stripped back roller, with the same atmosphere and delicacy, which we’re having at the beginning, but also with some energy also. The next one is “Planet 727” – a bit slower roller, also some sort of afterparty banger. If the afterparty lasts more than 24 hours, hehe. The last one in the review will be the shortest track of the release also – “Prophecy”. Another gentle piece on this release, this time with the nod to some breakbeat house territory.
If you’re a fan of stripped back bangers – you definitely wouldn’t want to miss this one. If so – Juno, Deejay or Decks are already waiting for you.
