Kaesar delivers three serene club cuts for the fifth vinyl release of Hubble Records.
The Portuguese label has developed a unique aesthetic through a patient approach over the years. Steadily releasing music from various local and international artists, the label released 20 digital EPs before evolving to the vinyl market.
Opting for around one release per year, their vision is gently unfolding in the form of stripped-back and versatile house music that is fit for many scenarios. Each release has received strong support from the likes of Priku and his Romanian peers which has led to the records soaring above the asking price on Discogs.
The debut release came from the talented Octave in 2018 which is now a well sought after item. Alex Pervukhin continued the label’s streak of form which has since been backed up by the French duo Miroloja and Trommel favourite Costin Rp.
Returning after a year of showcases around Portugal, Hubble continue their story with their fifth record from fellow Portuguese producer Kaesar. The release marks the imprint’s first record from a Portuguese artist, as well as Kaesar’s first solo vinyl release.
The veteran producer has been a longtime friend of the label and these tracks have been doing the rounds for over 12 months amongst the selectors within the project. Three tracks explore a number of moods representing Kaesar’s personal character, alongside a powerful remix from Cosmjn.
‘O Bigode Do Dali’ opens the record with a pensive cut, exploring vast atmospheres presented with the immaculate level of sound design now expected from Hubble Records and their corner of club music. Percussion is snappy yet relaxed, allowing for a stern bassline to lead the groove whilst eerie textures blossom beneath the beats.
Lifting the spirits in ‘Aravia’, the Portuguese producer explores a plucky vibe that is sure to elevate the mood in the club. You can picture the Sunwaves ocean washing in beneath a glorious sunset as this subtle roller soars through the sound system.
It’s the kind of stripped back music that comes to life on a strong sound system. Whether that’s in a top sounding club or a good pair of headphones, the sheer level of detail is revealed in these audiophile environments.
‘Parailio’ is the final cut that receives a special treatment from Cosmjn. Atmospheres feel as if they’re 4D, morphing field recordings and textural layers on top of one another that makes for the mind boggling minimal pioneered by many of the genre’s leading producers.
Cosmjn converts the track into a more of a tech-house weapon, injecting a spiraling energy into the bassline and sprinkling his majestic melodies throughout. Sequences take form in the most abstract and minimalist forms, carving a subtle melody from a seeping tear-like sound dancing with a distorted acid line.
There’s no denying the wizardry that Cosmjn has become known for in his prolific output, creating mystical music that leaves you feeling as if you just listened to a number of sounds for the first time that you’ll likely never hear again.
This elegant remix is another snippet into the musical universe of Comsjn, slowly building to a tense breakdown that welcomes a series of ethereal pads elevating the track to a whole new level.
Small percussive elements occasionally slip from the mix playing with tension and release, whilst the smallest clicks and pops simmer over the rhythm keeping you hooked throughout its effortless seven minute duration.
You can feel his organic approach to arranging the track, allowing elements to build on one another in a jam-like style which encourages those magic moments of synergy in the studio.
The record also features an exclusive design which is presented in an A3 print, as well as a hidden bonus track. Buy the EP from deejay.de.
