Brand new label Internal Dialogue Records curated by LOG_IN aims to surf the current wave of the retro resurgence and along with it provides a new path. Featuring two originals by GINNO as well as two remixes by LVCA and label head LOG_IN, there are more than a few warehouse hits to get your teeth into here.
Beginning our trip into this new imprint, we load up LOG_IN’s remix of “The Thief.” Where the original version from GINNO provides swirling synth lines and a more avant-garde tact, the remix opts to drill down to a more bass-centred direction. The distortion is severely dialed up and this provides an even meaner footprint to that of the already sinister original version. One aspect of the original that transfers easily to LOG_IN’s remix is the vocals, and these have been lifted in part directly to the new version albeit with a few tweaks and resampling.
Moving on to the next original track from GINNO “Something In The Water” there is even more pitch-black movements. While the main track content is tailor-made for those twilight hours the vocals lean into this but the tonality offers a surprising juxtaposition. This only helps to give a refreshing sense of unease that helps to drive both the track and the EP forward. The remix from LVCA chooses to use the vocal content sparingly and instead of positioning it at the front of the mix, lets it sit back in the mix. The result is a raspy version that leans more on the repurposed synths, wicked bass, and snappy impactful drums. Expect big things from this label as they continue to expand on their vision of mean warehouse music.
IDR001 is on pre-sale from Yoyaku now.
