Berlin-based label The Gathering were off to a flyer with their first release in late ’16 / early ’17 with Mannheim associates Fabe and Tolga Top combining for an EP with remixes from Diego Krause and DJ Honesty.
Another double team, Norken and Nyquist, have been enlisted for the label’s second release with two remixes of A1’s ‘Auxxx’.
There has never been a better time to playing, collecting or creating weird music. In recent years, Perlon associate Spacetravel has become a DJ’s favourite, combining oddball musical elements whilst still making a dancefloor rocking track. His V1 remix of Auxxx is, of course, no exception and we’re immensely pleased to be able to premiere it.
The Italian producer is a master of melding clashing acoustic textures into a track that feels as though it’s perhaps years ahead of its time. The bassline in the V1 remix almost feels like it was handcrafted for a DJ such as Binh or Nicolas Lutz, haunting yet esoteric, driving yet patient. Glitches, hardware groans and lasers swarm around the bassline whilst the 1-2 drum-clap combination gives the track a strong nod towards the dancefloor.
