Maher Daniels’ The Other Side imprint has until this release been solely presented by his own productions and while he has handed over several of tracks from his long player ‘Feelings From The Other Side’ to be reimagined it is great seeing new and exciting artists such as Faster being handed the reins on TOD005.
In full-on pumping cosmic minimal mode, this 2 track EP from Faster is rock solid and wastes no time in establishing grooves but it is the SIT remix on B1 that offers something just that little more special. The pairing of Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia are currently THE go-to remixers at the moment and just seem to have a magical touch when it comes to turning other people’s tracks on their head.
What starts out life as edgy and slightly sinister by way of pops, clicks, detuned synth and brooding static SIT’s remix of lead track ‘Presarat Cu Bass’ soon gives way to an undulating bassline, elongated synths and later their trademark lush atmospherics. Working in tandem with the flickering of toms and rolling bass tones SIT’s signature moodscapes take Faster’s ‘Presarat Cu Bass’ down another more cerebral route altogether and it never fails to impress the way in which their productions organically open up over the course of the full track. There are few artists at the moment that can match SIT’s knack for captivating a dancefloor and long may the Romanian duo’s reign continue.
