Paris-based collective District 10 Edits make their first move into vinyl with D10EDITS001, a three-track release that captures their taste for characterful club music. Following a string of Bandcamp releases from Floorfillers, the project now evolves into a new chapter focused on unique, nu-wave style edits with a timeless quality.
The featured A1, ‘Suffering’, opens with a forgotten fragment of post-punk reborn for the dancefloor. Energies nod toward 1980s Britain with Trainspotting-like vocal samples, pinned by a rubbery electric bassline that forms a stiff beat, nostalgic of the era’s defining sound. Think New Order or Joy Division and the signature static style of drum-machine. As the arrangement builds, a mean acid bassline eventually brings a touch of rave to the mix. You could easily imagine this being played at The Hacienda during Manchester’s heyday of acid house.
It’s a unique fusion of modern sampling techniques with a clear influence from the past, creating a bridge between post-punk melancholy and up-for-it rave energy. You can picture Francesco Del Garda dropping this bomb among his weird, tripped-out vocal weapons. Strange, catchy and packed with character.
On the flip, B1 turns inward. Whispered French phrases drift through breaks and M1 chords, blending steamy textures with a sense of restraint. The pensive atmosphere manages to tow the line between being hypnotic but still deeply human and relatable.
B2 closes the EP on a more emotional note. Dreamy yet forceful, it feels like a hymn for those final moments before daylight takes over. A voice asks, ‘can’t we live together?’, creating a unifying moment that pulls on the strings of nostalgia.
