Buenos Aires-based label Pyrma present their third vinyl release with a four-track EP from local artist Percunta.
The artist is known for his unique expressions within the progressive and atmospheric ends of club music. Tracks from the release span across the past four years of his production journey, captivating listeners with his emotive weapons.
‘Nina’ opens the record with a luscious, acid-tinged episode merging the worlds of trance, tech house and a euphoric ravey mood laced throughout. It’s a seven-minute workout slowly building tension with subtle drum changes and vast layers of reverb that would come to life on a nice sound system.
You can imagine the Ukranian selectors hypnotising crowds with this one, just as much as a mid-Jane Fitz set next to some 90s trance. It’s a fresh take on the classic club sound, packed with fizzing acid lines and trippy vocal work.
‘Happy Morning’ meanders through a more hopeful territory, mixing skippy drums with big synth lines echoing an optimistic vibe. The flip side picks up the pace in the funky acid session ‘What Is Love’. Steaming with attitude, a rubbery bassline squelches its way between fizzy drums and weird vocoder samples.
The closing track is a beautiful dive into a more electro-leaning character, working with a slick breakbeat rhythm and more trippy vocal edits. Moods swing between sleazy and laid-back into more tripped-out and ravey atmospheres.
Pryma is soon becoming a label to watch for versatile and interesting club cuts. The first two vinyl releases came from Dani Labb and Montei, alongside an extensive catalogue on their Bandcamp. Tracks navigate dreamy atmosphere and nimble rhythms that have been setting fire to many dance floors across the Latin American circuit.
Influences toe the line between old-school, classic vibes with a fresh and modern take characterised by slick and varnished sound design, creating a unique contrast of old and new.
