New York based collective RAW CUTS have a firm manifesto in place and as well as their sure fire event series the next edition of this comes via their on point record label. For the occasion they have lined up a four track VA with entries from Christopher Ledger, Guile, Jhobei, and Light Blue File.
We firstly take aim at A1 track from Light Blue File “JUNIOR” and true to form, the stripped back room filling basslines come thick and fast. Dipped in acid and rolled in 80s euphoria, this heater has all the hallmarks that punctuate both RAW CUTS’ parties and LBF’s discography – unbridled energy. Joining on side A is Jhobei and he too revels in these shared dancefloor ingredients on “Radionyx”. Pronounced grooves are tempered by the airy synth stabs that flutter mysteriously from the speakers.
Flipping over to side B and hot shot producer Christopher Ledger’s “Acid Redux” keeps the energy levels from dipping below the special peak time hours. A pumping house beat does much of the heavy lifting here with a vintage stabby synth and deep bassline to match. It is not until the soon arriving acid synth joins the action that the track begins to take off even further. Argentina based artist and rising artist Guile completes the package with “El Sonido Subterraneo” and the vocoded banger wastes no time in setting up the 80s tinged vibe that his productions have become so well loved for.
