Solid grooves and deeper moods to the fore as BRYZ takes the helm for Moonrover Records next wax outing. Celebrates its 6th physical output with 2 originals form the Romanian producer and tasty remix works of each original, from veteran Swoy and fellow Russian artist PRT Sacho.
We share title-track “Valerie” which keeps things tight from the off as no-nonsense rhythm sections work in tandem with driving basslines, dreamy pads and enchanting vocal shots and samples that bear the sirens’ call to the extraterrestrial. A well-structured journey through the unknown that brings forth treasures from the abyss, delivering a sense of warmth and wonder.
Swoy gives “Valerie” a groovy flip in his remix, which oozes low-end goodness, twisting with modulation, glitches and more. Driving more towards peak time selections Swoy’s reimagining maintains themes from the original, adding phat grooves and some tasty off-kilter synthesis, priming this piece for some afterhours airtime as well.
On the flipside BRYZ kicks things off with “Etherwave”, a more laidback voyage, traversing similar terrain as heard on the A-side but a couple of wormholes further into the depths, where darker moods are entertained as synth lines bubble and speculate in amongst a host of aural stimuli and some exceptionally tasty harmonies. Quality composition that features a clever and coherent selection of samples, sounds and synthesis that culminate to form a soothing orbit through the ether, top work!
B2. Sees PRT Sacho step things up a notch in his remix of “Etherwave”, infectious subs work alongside drums to the same effect, without forgetting the deepness of the original, PRT Sacho uses space efficiently to usher in a host of cosmic winds and intergalactic whispers that tell of the incoming space funk. They say a good story is worth telling well and this is very much a stellar example of exactly that!
Moonrover have also been busy in the digital realm as their digital series has seen star kissed releases from Daniel Broesecke, Daniel Meister and the inimitable Romanian powerhouse producer/DJ Barac and more.
