Bassam & ILyes join focus as a new record label is born. The French based artists come as a collective, already affiliated via the Chevry Agency in Paris. Although no strangers to collaboration, their contribution towards the ‘Facemelter’ VA marks their first track together.
The label being welcomed into the world comes from the team at Ritmo London. Although a relatively new name to the London underground (scene not tube), Ritmo have wasted little time making themselves known. Their podcast series has been showcasing regional talent since it started, transposing into an events calendar that has featured the likes of Silverlining, Voigt.Mas and regular invites to Leeds’ own Reeshy.
Ritmo rhythms are celebrated on the debut release with a bunch of artists intent on setting the scene for the new platform. The guestlist has been selected specifically and it is the duo from Paris who are kicking things off with the opening track.
‘Zit Argan’ is a thumper, complete with a straight up bassline that is moderately decorated in squelching groove. A body mover in its entirety, pace charges forward as the melody becomes entwined in the beat.
Synth becomes organ, organ becomes acid, as the funk fuelled house sound centres around starting the party. Energy is set and the rest will continue, as Bassam & ILyes are joined by Pohl & Abdulla, Bok.P and Velvet Velour all following suit. The EP in its entirety keeps the fire lit and the face melting.
Pre-orders will be available later this month, ready for release at the back end of January.
