Just three years since its inception, Saudi record label Gabu continues a really fine streak of releases, marking its thirteen EP. “New Gizea” is their newest collaboration with Italian producer Emanuele Barilli, who brings his signature touch to Gabu’s catalogue, a three-track EP featuring two originals and a remix by none other than the German minimal icon Losoul.
For our premiered track, Losoul reimagines “New Gizea” through his unmistakable lens. The renowned producer brings the original to a darker, dub-infused territory, stripping the groove down to its hypnotic essential, embodying Gabu’s sound essence. His reinterpretation transforms the track into a deep tunnel of rhythm and shadow, a masterful approach to sound that could easily cater to any designated dancefloor.
The title track, “New Gizea”, opens up the EP with an ear-catching groove and tight, funky drums. Its energetic pulse and sharp snares weave through a lush soundscape, an ideal statement piece for both the club and the afterhours, suave and irresistibly groovy at the same time.
“Blue Power” follows with a deeper, breakbeat-infused rhythm. Barilli’s knack for immersive sound design is on full display here, pairing funky percussion with subtle melodic fragments, The track feels both fluid and grounded, a fine continuation of Gabu’s commitment to forward-thinking, underground expression.
