Well, today, we’re showing you a piece of a compilation dedicated to Komponente from Kharkiv, Ukraine. a huge gathering of friends and supporters of this legendary man.
Some People (Komponente was a resident of this Kharkiv-based club): It was a cinematic story when a legendary DJ for the city had a stroke right during his set, and a girl from the community, who had been dancing to his music for the last few years, fought for him for two weeks, performed surgeries and rallied the forces of all his friends in the hope of salvation. But this story has no happy ending. Slava is gone; this is a great loss for all his loved ones and relatives, as well as our scene.
Middlecase Records (the label which releases this compilation): This compilation, titled Rewind to Forever, was created by friends and colleagues in memory of our dear friend, the talented musician and DJ Vyacheslav Gura, known as Komponente. He was a Ukrainian musician, vinyl collector, and founder of the Tvir label, whose career began in 2006. His deep and atmospheric music quickly won the hearts of listeners in Ukraine and beyond. He founded his own digital label, Blumenbeat, in 2009 and vinyl label Tvir in 2014. As a DJ and promoter, Komponente organized parties in Kharkiv, performed at the huge festivals, and played at iconic clubs. His music, whether in a home setting or on the dance floor, always remained expressive and captivating. This compilation includes works by artists such as Komponente, Aliana, Kurilo, Koloniari, and Luschn, serving as a tribute to Vyacheslav, his creativity, and his invaluable contribution to the music scene.
It’s really hard to add something on top of those two paragraphs, maybe only keep in your mind that this is probably the last time you’ll see the name of Komponente in our premieres section with his unique production style and signature sounds.
Like today’s one, “Global Psychodelic”, an epic, Chicago-esque piece, easily one of the best examples of Komponente’s latest sound, one of the three tracks of Komponente on the compilation.
“Game Over” by Aliana should also be mentioned, not because of the name, which unfortunately fits the release, but for the production, which easily jumps into my top 5 of her tracks. “Will You Cry When I’m Gone” by Roma Khropko (damn, what’s with all those names) is another piece of signature production; in his case, we have the most gentle track on the record. Koloniari hits hard with his usual, almost Kavinsky-like, heaviness on “Lumen Veritatis”. And let’s mention also Kyiv’s best-kept secret, Luschn. If you know that name, you’ll like “Psychic Picnic” here.
