Simonetti shapes the fifth release of 12 Points Records.
Hailing from Melbourne, Simonetti is known for his eclectic approach as a DJ, producer and promoter blending various styles and experimenting within club-ready-realms. His new EP feels like an extension of that vibe, offering a mix of high-energy beats and intricate details aimed at the dance floor.
The four track EP expresses various shades of club-friendly flavours in this EP. We zoom into the trance-meets-tech-house territories of ‘Steppin’. There is a strong UK vibe in the track with slippery hi-hats and a menacing bassline which is met with luscious synth work swimming overhead.
Energy is definitely on a higher tip with choppy vocal blips and a punchy percussion palate, although there is a sense of delicacy and psychedelia which comes through on the melodic side. You can imagine the likes of DJ Masda whipping this one out at Craig Richards’ Houghton festival. It’s deep, steamy peak time tackle.
Exploration comes to mind when listening to the rest of the EP. Atmosphere dive into techno and strong acid lines, whilst managing to maintain a feeling of delicacy and playfulness with both eyes on the dance floor. This kind of world-merging club music is perfect for both small and larger environments, packing a heavy punch in the low end, with intricate details buried within the beat.
‘Negative Ions’ leans into a progressive house tip straight out of the ‘90s, full of euphoric, ravey scents. Across all the tracks, the low-end packs a punch, while the details in the beats keep things interesting and unique.
Simonetti has been a big part of Melbourne’s underground scene, and his work behind the decks focuses on creating the right moment without sacrificing quality. He co-founded the party Confide back in 2020, which was all about bringing people together through music.
