It has been two years in the making but Stump is finally back for their annual February extended jaunt. It may well be underplaying the size of their upcoming event to call it a jaunt as they will be playing out their journey across 21 hours of dancing and two of the finest venues in the city in The Steel Yard and FOLD. The marathon party will begin on Saturday, February 19th and Stump will, as always, be delivering sets from the biggest artists in our sphere.
More on those artists later but what Stump has that all great events have is rock solid resident artists. The mastermind behind the Stump brand Thierry is perhaps one of the hardest working creatives in town and his prowess for putting on unreal events is matched only by his skills in DJ booths in both London and Romania. This is none so true than his recent and continued appearances for Sunrise where he warmed the plates at their huge NYD event in the capital. Joining Thierry since the early stages of Stump super talented Romanian artist Cally has been on the resident roster and with very good reason. A firm fixture at the likes of Sunwaves, Caprices Festival, Hide&Seek Festival the list goes on but he has been omnipresent on the London scene as well as making a big impact on the biggest record bags.
Next on resident team sheet is one of the longest running regulars in Irish lad Chrissy Hope. His groovey rollers have for some time been a staple of the defining early moments and those all-important after hours’ sessions. Impressing from a very early point it wasn’t long before he earnt his right to become a permanent fixture at the club. Another artist on the rise and can be often firing out his own productions to packed out dancefloors. Completing the resident showcase is Kearun and his deep soulful style always catches the ear of loyal Stump following. Having proved his mettle after several B2B’s with Cally at previous events around the UK Kearun dovetails perfectly with the rest of the talented cast of artists.
Stump is of course renowned for their star bookings and there is a serious amount of quality from across the minimal spectrum on show. Top of the list is Barac and with his last set coming five years ago where he played B2B with Gescu the Romanian orchestrator will make a long awaited solo appearance. His captivating sets are what make this sets so unmissable, from dulcet melodies, punchy grooves and deft transitions Barac is always a major draw and with him headlining The Steel Yard he will again be proving this. Taking control of FOLD will be none other than French legend and Minibar boss Cabanne. What this artist doesn’t know about minimal leaning house of all shades is not worth knowing. From bass heavy house to micro bangers Cabanne’s style is tailor made for the close confines of FOLD.
Joining Barac and Cabanne across the extended session will be fellow Ro artist Gescu and his skills behind the decks and in the studio are well documented. As is the white-hot productions from Italian artist Giuliano Lomonte, a mainstay at the finest parties and labels around the world. As always production is paramount and this involves each venue’s soundsystem and lighting being beyond reproach. This extends to the super talented visual artist Cotė as he has become a welcome regular fixture too with his visual trips being just as news worthy as the artists performing.
