For one reason or another all too often a night or a day seems to compress to only a handful of memories, this might be due to the music or perhaps the mental state of the individual at the time but it can be gone in the blink of an eye. This is the ethos of new East London party series Ogenblik. The aim of these parties is to showcase top-notch music in the most intimate setting possible without any sort of compromise to sound quality, international guest caliber and above all else vibe.
Launching on Saturday, March 7th Ogenblik will be presenting a 12-hour journey into sound that will be headed up by Flash As A Rat boss Digby. A staple on the world minimal scene as well as his own FAAR imprint Digby has delivered hot releases for the likes of Cocoon Recordings. One look at Digby’s jam-packed touring schedule will also point to him recently providing the soundtrack for the Volks at Epizode, Mutabor as well as Berlin hotspots Tresor, Hoppetosse and Wilde Renate. To catch such a talented artist in such close quarters as StarLane Pizza Bar ensures an eye-popping launch party awaits.
Booking the best international guests is great but without resident DJs to match the balance of the party will be out of whack. There are no such issues with that regard at Ogenblik as their resident artists can more than keep up with the headliner. First up is one of London’s finest underground artists Matteo Manzini and as well as being a safely entrusted pair of hands for the launch and each party thereafter Matteo is also enjoying a hot streak in the studio too. Having developed his sound through his own want? imprint he has recently alongside his studio partner Fabrizio Maurizi released the groove-laden ‘Coaxial’ EP on well-known Dutch label Memoria Recordings. For Londoners that have recently caught Lamache at the Waves season-closing, Rhadoo at FOLD or Sonja Moonear at Home then there is a high probability that you will have bared witness to one of Matteo’s highly respected warmup sets.
Completing the resident line-up is a duo that is also highly revered in the London minimal scene – Timoti. Born in Hackney, raised in New Zealand and now back on home soil the of sibling pairing of Myles and Elliot are currently making their way through London’s club scene and collecting some serious plaudits along the way. Regularly turning out at the likes of fabric, Star Lane Pizza Bar, The Lion and Lamb, and Studio 338 Timoti will relish the opportunity to show Ogenblik what they are capable of just make sure you are along for the ride. Also, if this whets your appetite for future parties be sure to keep your eyes peeled for further details on their next editions which will feature artists in the same vein throughout.
