Parent entity Modern Funktion have only just cleaned up the mess caused by a sold-out event at Werkhaus with super-selectors Truly Madly and Marlie, but they have announced their return to the fray. For their next event on Saturday, May 6th, they will be extending the good name of their Modern Sessions brand by bringing to Colour Factory a certified rising star of the Chicago scene – Garrett David.
Having only launched his Global Swing imprint just last year he has already brought the label to the attention of the heads by way of him signing a bomb-tastic EP from everybody’s favourite French MPC botherer Sweely. This is also not to mention his own illustrious solo discography that has spanned a decade and counting and has stopped off at labels such as Mate, Lobster Theramin, Distant Hawaii, and David’s previous label Stripped and Chewed.
Flitting between the States and Europe Garrett is an artist that is in high demand right now and with dates in Bucharest, Berlin, London, Lisbon, Paris, Lausanne, the list goes on. Adding to this list is of course is his headline appearance at Modern Funktion. One of Hackney Wick’s shining lights, Colour Factory will be the spot where Modern Sessions will be hosting their outdoor party this May bank holiday. There will also be a special guest making an appearance on the night too, but you will need to wait to find out who that special someone is. Taking care of the decks up until that point will be the Modern Funktion team of Ben Lucas, Curby, Olly Jones, Tarde Loco, and Phill De Janeiro. With all sorts of chops to their names, this group of aspiring selectors will be bringing the heat in a big way for their first open air event of the summer.
