Few promoters have the wide-ranging sound that London based crew Modern Funktion has. They know their audience well and they know that they like a lot of different sounds. From one month to the next you can expect to hear DnB, house, techno, garage. The same can be said for their partner in crime on Saturday, March 4th. This time however the roll out their underground house party Modern Sessions in Werkhouse which makes the perfect surroundings for it.
The industrious warehouse space that is Werkhaus is a constant in the UK community as it harbours all manner of British sounds under its riveted ceiling. Coming up next this combination of UK music purveyors is a Werkhaus debut for one of the UK’s hottest selectors – Truly Madly. His finely curated record bag and deft skills in the booth have become an essential part of the European festival and club circuit. He has been called upon to destroy dancefloors from Dimensions Festival to Shelter, fabric to ADE, ION Festival to The Loft. As well as his heady house and garage bombs to be found in his record bag there is also his own imprint Mindhelmet which has quickly gained serious traction. With tracks from Gene On Earth, Sweely, Nathan Pinder and Josh Baker to name just a few of the artists that have starred on his label.
Joining will be Ozzy artist Marlie and she is quickly ascending the ranks of the underground. Having played for checkpoint at their huge NYE down under, S.A.S.H. on NYD and a massive slew of European dates that included fabric, Half Baked, One Connection, FUSE. On this night, the Brick Lane warehouse will also be home to a take over from both the crews of Modern Funktion and Gradient. The former will be provided by residents Benji King and KLO (UK) whose sets at Werkhaus has been much lauded. Benji and KLO who has linked with Barcelona crew Chez Doc, retrogroove and of course Werkhaus. The Gradient crew will be repped by the active duo of Osmaan and Tadeusz who between them have appeared on some mouthwatering lineups that’s has included BienAimer Music’s NYE, Raresh & Janeret’s recent Night Tales appearance, as well as a range of Patterns raves.
