Canadian artist Mathew Jonson is a name synonymous with forward thinking music. We have lost count of the amount of releases from Mathew that have helped shape our sonic landscape and he continues to do so with each passing release. His upcoming release is something rather special and where else to have this concept album land than Caruan’s Deset Music imprint. Having been a firm supporter of synths and hardware since the very beginning, Jonson’s use of these machines is unrivaled and what he doesn’t know about a Roland SH-101 is not worth knowing.
This truly unique event will take place at an equally unique event venue called OSD Berlin and the bespoke spaces that will be the host for the evening is certainly befitting of the occasion. Benefitting from a Martion sound system throughout the event, the quality of sound will only be equalled by the quality of the source material and environment that it will be enjoyed within, Acting as master of ceremonies for the evening and the most amiable of hosts will be Mathew himself where he will introduce his conceptual live set by way of a short talk and presentation.
This will be followed by a live performance from the man himself, and with the sounds and ideas from his “SOS” EP not being showcased anywhere outside of his Freedom Engine studio in Berlin this will certainly be one of the highlights of the Berlin calendar this season. Following Mathew there will be complimenting performances from esteemed colleagues that include label boss Caruan, Matthias, Jorge Escribano, Jacopo, and Francesco Carvetta. When the main room of the impressive OSD main space becomes too much there will be mellow vibes to be found in the chillout room which will be curated by S. Moreira, Indie Zone, Zeus, and My Friend Dario who will play a live set.
