Some venues become part of a crew’s identity, and an entire era has quietly passed there. That’s roughly where Kumquat finds itself with “Le Château de Ma Mère” — the hillside bastide above Marseille that’s hosted their open-air series for most of 2026. On September 19, they’re closing that chapter, and doing it the only way that makes sense for a crew this deep into its own mythology: handing the whole night over to Faciendo Soundsystem.
Kumquat is a crew that’s spent close to a decade building one of the more trusted names in French electronic music, starting out of Paris before planting real roots in Marseille and, more recently, Montpellier. The resident lineup alone (One Tough Cookie, Meti, Jem&Juice, Baal, Noar) would be enough to carry most parties, but Kumquat has also made a habit of pulling in serious guests over the years — Raresh, Dyed Soundorom, tINI, Traumer, Sonja Moonear, Fumiya Tanaka, and Camion Bazar have all passed through at various points. “Le Château de Ma Mère” has been this year’s home base: a proper bastide in the hills, pine trees, cicadas, that particular Provençal stillness where nobody’s in a hurry and the sea is visible but somehow beside the point. Three chapters in, it’s become one of those spots that regulars talk about like it’s a person.
For the finale, Kumquat isn’t bringing in a headliner — they’re bringing in an entire ecosystem. Faciendo Soundsystem describes itself less as a DJ collective and more as its own organism: a group of DJs, producers, and artists working from a shared, experimental approach where old and new influences sit together and the collective feeling of the night matters more than any single name on the lineup. It’s a philosophy that tends to produce sets you can’t fully predict, which is exactly the point.
What makes September 19 genuinely rare is scale — for the first time, the full roster (Burchan, Desyn, Keras, Rama, Rowan, Tom Morgan, and Tommy Pickles) is converging in Marseille at once, spread across two stages in a fully open-air setup built to feel like a mini-festival rather than a single party. Given how Faciendo operates, expect the two stages to bleed into each other rather than run as separate rooms — genre lines blurring, momentum passing between artists rather than resetting with every set change, that sound-system-first instinct where the whole night is treated as one continuous idea.
Given the exceptionally high level of musical curation on show on both stages, it goes without saying that the sound system would be of equal quality. Both stages will feature the finely tuned Kumquat Soundsystem, which is made by French brand Palladium Audio, that will offer Pamapa stage an incredibly clear sonic footprint while Misover stage will benefit from a 360-degree system. This will ensure that everybody in attendance will be able to drink in the carefully catered vibes from Faciendo Soundsystem.
There’s something fitting about ending a chapter this way. “Le Château de Ma Mère” built its reputation on collective atmosphere over individual moments — and closing it out with a collective that operates on exactly that principle feels less like a coincidence and more like Kumquat picking the right way to say goodbye to a place.
