For the last ten years and counting, Kumquat has built a solid reputation across clubs, open-air spaces, festival stages, and extended after-party sessions. Notable projects in the Île-de-France area include three consecutive years running MisOver on Île-Saint-Denis, plus last year’s short-lived public reopening of the iconic Babcock factories in La Courneuve.
Beyond Paris, this friend group turned entertainment crew has spent four years building a presence in southern France, first putting down roots in Marseille and more recently expanding into Montpellier. These days, Kumquat ranks among the most respected names driving France’s electronic music scene forward.
Backed by the resident DJ collective that includes seasoned selectors One Tough Cookie, Meti, Jem&Juice, Baal, and Noar, their sonic footprint has been shaped into what each of their events brings. Over the course of the last ten years, they have supported almost any conceivable headliner with undoubted highlights in the form of Raresh, Dyed Soundorom, Francesco Del Garda, Gene On Earth, tINI, Sweely, Sonja Moonear, Margaret Dygas, Traumer, Truly Madly, Fumiya Tanaka, Samuel Deep, The Ghost, DJ Senc, and Camion Bazar to name just a few.
To celebrate in suitable fashion, the Kumquat collective will be kicking things off on July 25th at a brand-new spot: “Château de Ma Mère,” set in the Marseille hills. With the party running from early afternoon all the way to the end of that night. The event will take place entirely outdoors, split across two stages, and there will be a veritable feast of musical talent on offer. Taking care of the soundtrack will be Ayo’b, Baal, Kizoku (live), M. Felix, Merlino, Noar, One Tough Cookie, and Ora, and if the music gets too much or you just need a breather, you can enjoy the party facilities that the Kumquat team have carefully curated.
Once part one is done and dusted, the action will move to Cité des Arts de la Rue, a roomy warehouse just a short trip away. Expect striking stage design, a top-tier sound rig, and a lineup that pulls no punches. —Sweely (live), Magda, and Lamache—keeping the energy alive straight through to sunrise.
Sunday morning brings the last leg of the journey with an after-party at a secret location, only minutes from the main site—smaller, more intimate. Noon marks the “official” end. What actually happens after this 22-hour stint…that is anyone’s guess.
