On October 9 and 10, 2026, Kumquat returns to the entrance of the Calanques for one of the highlights of its annual program: the Bazar Bozar Festival.
Last year’s event was postponed due to fire hazards and ultimately held as a one-day event in November — this year brings the first full two-day edition at this exceptional venue.
Bazar Bozar takes place on the Luminy campus at the very edge of Marseille — the last developed site before the Calanques National Park begins. The complex was inaugurated in 1968, right at the gates of the Calanques, and for decades, it housed both Marseille’s architecture school and its Beaux-Arts school side by side, sharing the same site since 1967.
That changed when the roughly 1,200 architecture students relocated to a new home at Porte d’Aix, leaving the Beaux-Arts school — now merged with the city’s conservatoire under INSEAMM. Since then, the building has been steadily reclaimed for the arts: music, cinema and visual arts programs have all moved into the emptied halls, with plans in motion for a full music and film recording studio on site.
Romania’s Rhadoo headlines as one of electronic music’s most respected selectors. A co-founder of [a:rpia:r], he’s been shaping dancefloors since the 90s and helped instigate the loopy, reductionist sound that is built on patience, three-deck mixing and a rare sense of control. He will be joined in the booth by French minimal house icon Cabanne who needs little introduction. The Minibar boss stitches together low-end dub, micro grooves and soulful moments — a true institution of the Paris–Berlin minimal axis.
They will be aided by fellow minimal instigator Onur Özer, who brings two decades of Istanbul-via-Berlin minimal techno. He cut his teeth in Istanbul’s late-90s club revival before exporting that warm, hypnotic sound across Germany, with releases on Vakant and Cocoon cementing his reputation as one of the genre’s most meticulous architects. Next is Gene On Earth, the force behind Limousine Dream — a label that’s become a key reference point for deep, wonky house and tech house.
American producer Liquid Earth brings his blend of sun-soaked sensibility of his native California with London and Berlin’s rhythmic precision. For this edition of Bazar Bozar he will also be unveiling a brand new live set which will be worth the entry alone. Ukrainian talent Katia Curie, Kyiv-born and Vienna-based, focuses on deep tech-house, progressive house and late-90s techno, co-running the Perlaplastica label alongside Nizar Sarakbi. Bobby., a Fabric London resident since 2019 and founder of Pleasure Club, brings an intimate, genre-traversing approach shaped by fifteen years of digging. Rounding out the bill: Marseille-based Moroccan DJs Ayo and Alich, local selector Merlino, and Kumquat’s own One Tough Cookie, Meti and Baal — representing the label’s home scene.
Two open air stages, designed as a genuine scenographic challenge: showcasing the venue while keeping noise and light pollution to a minimum in the surrounding natural area. Kumquat’s stage design leans into the site’s in-between state, framing the architecture without overwhelming it, and keeping the surrounding national park undisturbed by sound or light.
Beyond the dance floor: booths, entertainment, food, and chill-out areas to recharge between sets.
