Dutch sensation Ion Ludwig is a special breed of artist, his tracks are more like compositions and his sets are more like performances such is his well-rounded and coherent style. A producer that is always in a constant state of flux and forever creating will always have a body of work in the pipeline, so when they announce that they will be releasing an LP this is usually something to get very excited about indeed.
Ludwig’s forthcoming long player ‘Rolling Drama’ on Baby Ford’s Trelik label is very befitting of its album title, but as I’m sure you are aware if you are familiar with Ion’s work you will know that is much more than that. From the lush intensity of ‘Fall Answers’ to the nervous distortion of ‘Modern Missing Mood’ and the loping muscle of ‘Le Imagen’ disc one of this double 12” packs in a lot of musical knowledge.
Disc two picks up exactly where disc one left off and dives straight into dancefloor territory with the shimmering funk of ‘Felt Like Klaring Space’ closely followed by the introverted deepness of ‘Sparse Hypnotimes’. As always, it is clear that Ion did not want to compromise his sound or the journey of the tracks for the purpose of adding more tracks to the release, so fans of the Dutch artist will be glad to know these tracks are very well spaced out and all bar side B get a side to themselves.
