Audiophile music bar Doka unveil their full ADE program

With Amsterdam Dance Event nearly upon us Sin City will again be rocking to the sounds of the world’s finest DJ’s. for some, it is the chance to see the biggest DJ’s playing in the some of the world’s finest clubs and festivals, but for some it is the chance to catch in action artists that they might not normally come across. One venue that almost embodies this latter ethos is Doka at Volkshotel. This basement club is small yet perfectly formed, this is not a term used lightly as the small capacity means that events here are usually energy packed and above all else sound fantastic.

Now somewhat of a tradition one of minimal’s leading purveyors of the avante garde Toi Toi will again return to the audiophilic venue for another standout ADE session. This time around the London based brand will present an evening in the presence of greatness and Wednesday, October 19th will see an event with a difference. For their upcoming event, they will be delivering an intimate electro-acoustic performance from the esteemed drummer and producer Samuel Rohrer. From his work with Ricardo Villalobos and musical mind behind the Ambiq project. Returning to Doka will be Perlon superstar Margaret Dygas and with her will be fellow Toi Toi family member Rhadoo. Neither of these artists need any sort of introduction but this will be an evening not as you might have experienced before. So sets the stage for one of the most in demand parties of the week.

Also, returning to Doka Studio on Thursday, October 20th is firm favourite of the venue Carista and her United Identities label party. A well-established femme fatale, her sound is hard to pigeon hole as it is so wide ranging and impeccably well informed. The leftfield imprint is home to a bulging stable of sounds and it is this dextrous approach that will lead the soundtrack this evening. As well as a set from Carista there will also be performances from Ash Lauryn, Beraber, musclecars, and Suze Ijó.

Shifting to an early evening time slot Loch Inn will be taking up residence at Doka’s close quarters on Friday, October 21st. With a distinctly informative program on the agenda your host Margie will be on hand to welcome eight local artists into the spotlight where they will be given the chance to present their own works in various states, be that future releases, unreleased gems or simply ideas and sketches straight from their demo book.

With darkness now fallen on Wibaustraat it is time to let the beats run free amongst the perfectly tuned Doka soundsystem. Bradley Zero’s London based imprint has presented many highly acclaimed releases from the likes of Chaos In The CBD, Henry Wu, and FYI Chris and now a special ADE edition awaits on the evening of Friday, October 21st. Joining Bradley will be Gayance (live), Nala Brown, and Retromigration.

Another brand that has made Doka Studio their home over the last few years is London’s Picnic Records. Their regular label showcases are not to be missed and with Andy Luff at the helm they consistently bring the cream of minimal leaning music to these deliciously intimate surroundings. For their penultimate event of ADE Picnic Records will present sets from DJ Tjizza, pH Project, Sugar Free, and close family member Truly Madly. House, breaks, electro and garage will all have plenty of air time during this vibe heavy session that will more than leave a mark on ADE.

Rounding out Doka’s ADE program on Sunday, October 23rd will see Minimal Collective gather for another edition of their hypnotic journey. The media collective is much more than music which is why they have chosen Doka as their venue for their ADE spot. Their clarity of sound, openness of their door policy and forward thinking approach to clubbing sits directly adjacent to that of Minimal Collective. Providing the music for this last round will be Mama Snake & Spekki Webu, LDS, Sybil, and Brent Jacko and be a suitable swan song for one of Amsterdam’s finest weeks of music.
