Aura Festival is the first in a series of events taking place in some of Sicily’s most iconic locations.
The 4,000 capacity venture will take over the historic Castellammare del Golfo over May 1st and 2nd, inviting the likes of Onur Ozer, Francesco Del Garda and Quest to soundtrack this incredible site.
Inspired by the experience of transforming breathtaking locations into a temporary musical haven, the collective UNLOCKED is behind the curation. The promoters have a significant history in event production and have more Sicilian events in the pipeline, each aiming to bring adventurous line-ups to culturally significant settings across the island.
Their vision centres on bringing something distinctly new to southern Italy’s festival circuit, where underground credibility meets a culturally significant setting.
Set within the Parco Archeologico di Segesta in the hills of western Sicily, the archaeological park is home to a well-preserved Doric Temple and an ancient Greek theatre overlooking the surrounding countryside. It’s fair to say this is a truly unique experience, bringing a line-up of this calibre to a temple over 2,500 years old.
The festival’s focus on high-quality production, carefully curated sound and scenic immersion makes it a compelling alternative to the traditional club environment.
Both days run for 12 hours from 1pm to 1am, soundtracking dance floors both under the sun and stars. Friday’s curation is very much in the deep-digging circuits of vinyl culture with Italian legend Francesco Del Garda spinning on home soil. He’s joined by fellow innovator Onur Ozer and French powerhouse Oshana, whose productions, live and DJ sets have been stunning dance floors for many years.
Devilish vinyl selector Quest completes the bill. Eclectic and fiery music is to be expected from these devoted diggers, always bringing the unexpected to their sets.
Saturday leans into more tech-house realms with rising young selector Josh Baker, as well as Bartolomeo, Locklead and Traumer, with the Sensazione Stupenda showcase also on the bill. Each artist brings their own strain of uplifting house music, merging massive basslines with popular samples and edits.
Traumer’s subtle swing and well-crafted rhythms sit alongside Locklead and Bartolomeo, rounding out a Saturday that offers something distinct from the Friday.
There will also be an opening act on each day, bringing a concert experience to the temple.
