Florence-based Connessioni hit back with their third release, another four-tracker from label founder Lorenzo Fortino and Brody as they share their collaborative works on this slick slice of wax. The third EP from the pair boasts 4 top tunes, oozing cosmic grooves, soulful moments and timeless themes, forming one solid EP, the duo went over and above with a secret extended drop – 2 digital bonus instrumental cuts when you buy direct from them on Bandcamp.
‘Connessioni’ or ‘connection’ in English, was established as a label dedicated to collaborations, allowing Lorenzo Fortino a platform where he can work with artists he loves and respects in a natural, human way as they share a physical studio space.
We gladly premiere flipside dancefloor fuel B2. “Leave Those Memories”, catchy riffs and classic plucks pave the way for alluring and enchanting vocals that are every bit as whispery as they are soulful. Veronica Marini’s voice takes mainstage as the groove is topped-up with acidic bass notes, bubbling over nicely stripped-back structures. Punchy, raw, sun-kissed stuff that will be sure to keep the floor rocking.
Zip back to title-track B1. “Deep Freedom” and hear a robust beat driving alongside mutant basslines as Marini shares her philosophies, liberating your mind and soul as she tells it how it really is, deep pads pioneer through silky skies as this track flies high.
A1. “Our Truth” is driven by an infectiously plucky bassline, some really tasteful pad work, thoughtful drum programming with some classic sounds and just the right amount of vocal being injected into the groove. A2. “Homemade mould” hears acid house elements through retrospective lenses as the pair pay definite homage to the 303, with the track being guided by some classic knob-tweaking, filter modulation.
Following on from Fortino’s Futop Musica record label – a space the Italian utilised to showcase his own works, he wanted to step away from releasing personal productions and focus on exploring beyond the limitations of working alone and so decided to document and showcase this expansion through his Connessioni project. With this being the third collaborative EP with Brody, we do hope to hear another as it seems the duo are embracing the meaning of connecting when it comes to studio time, as for the future, stay tuned!
