Berlin-based record label Discarded Gems have delivered a steady trickle of releases since launching back in 2016. The platform celebrates artists in the city, offering a range of flavours from one to the next. The latest in the series comes from talented producer Views (Tape Archive).
‘Tribute To The Channel’ EP delivers four original tracks, giving the artist the space to delve deep into the sound they represent. A handsome debut when joining the fold that they have taken full advantage of. Over on the B side, ‘Tribute To The Channel’ is a nicely rounded little bundle, which we’ve taken for the premiere.
Deep house bassline plods along in current fashion, but there’s an equally transporting element that takes it back to the days of old-school raving. Feelings of nostalgia ripple through the spine-tingling chords at the breakdown; an infusion of trance, acid, and classic house.
Percussion is sharp and the harmonies deep and mysterious, swinging over the top of a darker, more defined stabbing synth melody. It’s a serious dance floor mover that delivers a bolshy beat, whilst tugging on the strings of emotion. The flavour is leaning towards techno and that brings with it such intensities.
Energy remains constant from the first track to the last on this EP, providing four cuts for the party. Across the range, melodies do become lighter and the basslines deeper, but the energies remain the same.
The record is expected for release on 30th April and can be found at Juno or deejay.de.
