Having impressed with his Free Download track for us a few years ago, Nic David now launches his own imprint Human Behaviour. To mark the occasion the man himself has delivered three upbeat, feel good heaters that are accompanied with a remix by rousing artist Nathan S.U.
We head straight to the juice of the EP with A2 “The Feelin” and from the outset Nic’s intentions are clear and that is to elevate the dancefloor. Swirling airy pads immediately raise the energy levels and these are matched by the filtering bassline and hypnotic vocal line. Stripped back grooves focus the mind while the sparkling synths and guitar licks add the funk.
A1 track “Magnetic” opens up the release with a shimmering look back at times gone by way of vocoded vocals, retro geared synths with more than a nod to the 80s. Updated for modern floors, the percussion is especially well executed here and has more than the right effect.
Over on side B there is a pair of versions of “Work It”. Firstly, Nic presents the original version with gated synths and heavy hitting beats. Treading a more electro route, the Human Behaviour boss combines a bounding bassline with his trademark energy shot. Opting for a more peak time path, Nate S.U somehow injects even more energy into “Work It” by way of a more bass guitar motif that edges down a progressive route.
