Premiere: A2 – Audio Labour – Take Me Up [PRYM006]

For the next edition of Pryma Records, the Argentine label presents the first release from co-founders Dani Labb and Montei’s joint project – Audio Labour. In keeping with their strong peaktime dancefloor merit, the self-titled 4 track EP is packed with heat.

With Pryma Records having deep rooted electro and Italo, EP opener “Vangeli” could be an ode to Greek composer Vangelis. The walking bassline is accompanied by vocoded vocal snips and an emotive synth that mystically winds its way through the track. Next up is “Take Me Up” and it is back to top flight sleazy bass mode. The drawling vocals and tough bassline present a heavy hitting figure and with the addition of the raw synth lines the action soon heats up.

Flipping over to side B and the stripped back nature of “KYM” gives serious weight to the 303 bassline. The atmospheric sound effects and detuned synths that accompany the acid line give notes of vintage 00s tech house. Rounding out PRYM006 and the opening salvo from Audio Labour is “Algo que no es” and tweaking the 303 into a different shape, the focus returns to the groove. Stepping into slightly spooky territory momentarily before snapping back into the rhythm.
