Launching his Lilas Records imprint early last year, Into The Woods residents Krif and Tarek Charbonnier now delivers his second release edition. Having impressed with the first release with three original cuts from the man himself he introduced Olivian Nour to his fan base and he knocked it out of the park. His remix on LILAS001 perfectly matched the atmospheric punch of Kirik’s original ‘French Kiss’ and so it was a no brainer to welcome the Romanian back for his own solo EP ‘Prisoners’.
Leading out with A1 title track ‘Prisoners’ and already there are hints at a return to the Sunwaves archives. In a similar vein to his previous smash hit ‘Hakuna Matata’ the track slowly unveils its true power over much of its run time. With a restrained focus that arms the DJ with punchy drums, gnarly basslines and killer breakdowns designed to take any dancefloor to the brink before dropping subtly back into the groove.
Following on and A2 ‘Cartea Cartillor’ offers the same classy understated grooves that have become Nour’s calling card. Arpeggiated synth lines work in tandem with the tightly wound metallic percussion. Flipping over and B1 ‘Leth’ rounds out the release nicely with crunchy snares and droning basslines and the mysterious musical elements that litter Olivian’s productions. With support from the likes of Raresh, Janaret, and Miroloja already in the bag this is sure to be hit at this summer’s large scale events.
