Today marks the launch of a special new project from the minds of Mihnea Rog and Dumitrescu. MAD Signal is a floor forward vinyl imprint that combines the taste making skills of both artists and feeds this into their new label. Who better to kick off the label than the creators and their three track “Signal One” EP kick hard throughout.
“Kicking” off with A1 banger “My Clip” and Mihnea Rog and Dumitrescu mean business from the beginning. Super tough kicks converge on an elongated bell loop that is joined by a deep rasping bassline. Pitched down vocals soon enter the fray alongside a swiping scratch sample that helps to build the tension to peak levels. This level of pressure is maintained throughout and we suspect this monster tool will be made full use of by our scenes’ dark side selectors.
Adding to side A is “Bassdrop” an equally huge track that couples deep proving bass tones with room filling sound FX. The 80s hip hop-esque vocal clip also adds massive attitude to the track that sits effortlessly alongside the stripped back atmospheric grooves. Completing this insanely curated EP is “Source 3”, in a similar vein to side A the theme is pitch black, but with a slightly bigger glint of light is found in the hypnotic vocal that resounds again and again. Repeating sine wave stabs signal act as a call to arms and the tough upfront grooves respond in kind.
