Italian artist and one half of the dynamic Data Memory Access pairing Jacopo Latini is next to present on homegrown imprint DMA. With the duo opening up the DMA account with their first outing, Latini is in full control of the second edition and his four original tracks are essential for that peak time electro vibe.
As you have come to expect from Latini the beats are rock solid and stripped back and bass heavy and our premeire today “Time Is Up” personifies this ethos whole heartedly. Perfectly crafted for the floor, there is not much variation in the drums but this is exactly the point. A suitably crunch snare and flanged percussion is really all that is needed outside of the pummelling kick drum to underpin the squelchy synths. Accompanying this on side A is “Otherside” and while there is considerably more atmosphere to speak off the action is no less punchy and impactful.
Flipping over and “Nightfall” gets us underway with a forlorn synth progression that tugs on the heart strings while the paired bassline reinforces the feels. Last up is “Electric Edge” where the arpeggiated bassline gives way to breathy synths and hushed vocoded vocals. While side A is all about heads down grooves, side B features the delicate emotions that Latini manages to distill into his tracks while keeping the beats rolling.
