The Void Project from Belgium is well-known for its splits – my favorite here is definitely their second one, between Alec Falconer and Bodin. But this one will give their second one a quite nice matchup since we have here the guys, who are standing behind the Binarysound, Distrikt Paris and Antam Records – Bassam and Antoine Sy. It’s really hard to choose between them, must say, but, since we must have only one track – the opener by Bassam was picked.
It was impossible to miss Bassam’s Distrikt Paris label in the last year and I’m very happy that he’s keeping the pace of his crew in 2021. First of his two tracks on this record is continuing the quite popular in the last years “spacey/robotic” theme. Bassam himself briefly explains a bit about this track: “During the first quarantine we only had our thoughts to imagine the dance. So I wanted to produce a melody and a groove that wave not only the body but also the brain.” Not being boring at all and providing a great bassline when the melody is hiding to have a little rest – that’s my addition to his words about “Sector 11” here.
The follow-up “Computer Mood” is playing with another trend of the last years – videogame sound. Not too much, must say, you won’t be tired of that, I promise. And even better – it perfectly balances between chill chords and “sugar rush” energetic sprints inside.
Antoine’s side starts from a great stomper, called “Moonwalk”, and continues with some quirky and broken vibe of “All Starz”. B1 should get more attention here, but let’s see. Both of them have a solid potential of catching some screams if you’ll play them at the right time of the party.
The release is announced already at the Bandcamp page of The Void Project and all good record shops. I shouldn’t tell you, what to do, right?
