Italian based imprint BAR Musica now on their fifth release has since 2016 welcomed into the fold various minimal luminaries such as Einzelkind, Bruno Pronsato, Pier Bucci as well original artist Jesse Marcell and J Paraguai. However, it is label boss Bartolomeo that is taking control of BAR004.
A1 pick ‘Castellamare’ wastes absolutely no time in setting itself in a realm of its own, rolling beats and percussion pop and click as if being awoken from a slumber. The truly unique musical elements of the track are responsible for some awesome “bass face” moments all the way through the track and being the first track on the EP really stamp authority here. This is one hell of a track and I am sure after just one listen you could easily be transported to one of the main tents at Sunrise where this would go down as a highlight in any of the big hitter’s sets.
One artist that immediately springs to mind when listening to this track is Priku and low and behold who should be on remix duties for ‘Castellamare’ but El Presidente himself. Opting to roll out the bassline into his trademark undulating style which in turn ramps up the energy to peak levels. The use of the synths is something else entirely making it very hard to choose between the original and this rework. Completing this stunning release is ‘Proprio Tu’ which revolves around a warping minimal groove with repeating synth lines. As good as this is the focus is set firmly on ‘Castellamare’ and the wicked Priku remix which I am sure will sell out in no time at all if it even makes onto general release.
